A small measure with a big effect

In hydraulics, precision is crucial - for example, even small connection errors between hose and connector can impair functionality and significantly reduce the hose assembly’s service life. To ensure the consistently high quality of hose connections, a simple yet reliable final inspection is essential. The STAUFF Dornvos test mandrels, the mechanical test system for checking nipple insertion, were developed precisely for this purpose.

Insertion errors

As numerous field reports show, inadequate or incorrect crimping can lead to leaks, structural damage and even safety-critical failures. Common causes include incorrect crimping dimensions, unsuitable tools or poorly maintained machines often remain undetected without targeted testing.

This is where STAUFF Dornvos comes in - as a simple test step directly after crimping, before the hose assembly goes into operation.

What is STAUFF Dornvos?

STAUFF Dornvos is a specially developed test system consisting of test mandrels that can be used to quickly and clearly check the inside diameter of crimped, straight Ecovos hose fittings.

The principle is as simple as it is effective:the mandrel corresponding to the nominal diameter is inserted into the fitting. By checking the insertion using the test mandrel in accordance with Stauff's specifications, the correct reduction in nipple diameter can be verified.

Dornvos is available either individually or in a practical complete case - ideal for workshops, service vehicles or series production. The system was specially developed for all straight Ecovos hose fittings from STAUFF in nominal sizes DN 06 to DN 51.

Simple test procedure without the need for training

Our Dornvos system is intuitive to use and delivers a clear result within seconds.

This is an unbeatable advantage, especially in workshops with high throughput or in mobile hydraulic services: precise inspection without wasting time - and without additional training.

Standardised testing for all nominal sizes

Whether for compact hoses (e.g. 2SC) or multispiral hoses (e.g. 4SP, isobaric hose types): Dornvos covers all nominal sizes from DN 06 to DN 51. The associated test mandrels are matched to the respective inner diameters of the compression nipples - based on STAUFF's specifications. The test ensures process reliability in production.

In addition to the test mandrels for our Ecovos hose connectors, the product rangealso includes matching mandrelsfor our Multivos hose connectors.

Practical set for the workshop

STAUFF offers Dornvos as individual test equipment for specific nominal sizes or as a complete set with all test mandrels including a sturdy transport case. The modular case design allows for easy integration into existing testing processes - stationary or mobile.

Service partners with workshop vehicles in particular benefit from the robust, compact design and ease of use on site.

How the mandrel test works

How exactly are the test mandrels used? We explain it here, in simple and clear steps. Click through the images to understand how the mandrels work:

  1. Select the appropriate Dornvos test mandrel according to the nominal diameter.
  2. After crimping, insert the mandrel into the inner diameter of the hose nipple.
  3. Check the insertion resistance (see images):

If necessary, the pressing dimension can be adjusted and the fitting pressed again - until the result is correct.

No nipple collapse was created by pressing. Press dimension is too large.
ATTENTION: The connection is not functional. Leakage and risk of the hose slipping out of the crimped fitting
from the crimped fitting. The crimping diameter must be reduced by a few tenths of a mm!
