Short Description of this Episode
This episode of the mini-series Increasing Agricultural Safety presents a variety of options for the color coding of hydraulic couplings in agricultural engineering and shows the specific advantages offered by the solution developed by STAUFF with colored coding rings.
When there are multiple lines in a hydraulic system that use Quick Release Couplings there is a risk of getting them mixed up with each other and connecting the wrong lines together creating contamination and other dangerous effects to the hydraulic system, operator, and environment. STAUFF conversed with customers and looked at current solutions in the market to see how this problem is being mitigated. Cable ties in a variety of colors was one method used, however they are not durable enough and fire safety and weather resistance were not guaranteed. Color coding using electrical tape also fell short as well did colored dust caps. With this information and the strong need for innovation STAUFF created the Color Marking Rings for Quick Release Couplings.Â
STAUFF experts redesigned the QRC to now incorporate a groove in a noncritical area of the component. With no difference to the actual component themselves, this added feature is for organization and safety purposes alone. The Color Marking Ring is secured tightly in this groove ensuring it will not fall off during operation. STAUFF offers the color marking rings in 8 different colors, however if more colors are needed two-tone solutions are available and custom colors are available upon request. The STAUFF Color Marking Rings are cost effective, durable, and are built specifically for the use in complex and rough environments making them built to last.
